Review from RWA Book Club |
Amber Jones is in for a rude awakening when it comes to the male species when she visits her brother for a few weeks at his college in California. What she doesn’t expects is to fall in love (at first sight) with his best friend. Their whirlwind romance takes reaches the peaks of mountains tops during that short amount of time, but reach a valley low when a series of unfortunate events causes the demise of their relationship. Twelve years pass before the two paths are crossed again, only this time they both vow for it to be more permanent, if only fate will allow that to be.
This is a classic love story with drama carefully woven between the pages. The adage that if you love something, let it go and if it’s meant to be, it will come back to you, is resounding through the pages of this swift reading novel. For Amber, life turns from a sweet smelling rose, to the pungent stench that resides when that rose becomes unattended. Always the trooper and doing what she has to do verses what she wants to do, I admired what she put up with for the ‘greater good’. This book was very well written and held my attention. It was an endearing love story that had me flipping through the pages, eagerly to see what would become of this young woman who was unjustly scorned.
